SIOUX CITY, IA – Faith Hurlbert of Telco Triad Community Credit Union (Telco Triad) in Sioux City, Iowa, was recently awarded the Iowa Credit Union Foundation’s (ICUF) Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarship, which is presented each year to Credit Union members who are pursing higher education.
Applicants were asked to complete the designated online entry form and answer an essay question in no more than 500 words. This year’s question was:
Credit Unions are financial cooperatives driven by the principle of ‘People Helping People.’ Share a story about a time when collaboration or teamwork helped you, your family, or your community achieve a goal. How does this cooperative spirit influence your view of financial success? How can your credit union help?
In her winning essay, Hurlbert reflected on her work supporting survivors of human trafficking and the profound impact community collaboration has on rebuilding lives. She shared her commitment to pursuing a career in social work so she can continue advocating for vulnerable individuals and strengthening the support systems that foster resilience and independence.

This year, the Iowa Credit Union Foundation awarded 25 scholarships totaling $48,000.
